چکیده
Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is a popular thermoplastic material widely used in engineering applications due to its favorable mechanical properties and stability at high temperatures. With the first implantable grade PEEK being commercialized 1990s, use of has since grown exponentially biomedical field rapidly transformed large section medical devices landscape. Nowadays, standard biomaterial across wide range implant applications, however, bioinertness remains limitation for bone repair applications. The increasing demand enhanced treatment efficacy/improved patient quality life, calls next-generation implants that can offer fast integration as well other desirable therapeutic functions. As such, modification progressively shifted from offering properties, enhancing bioactivity/fast osteointegration, more recently, tackling post-surgery bacterial infection/biofilm formation, modulation inflammation management cancers. Such progress also accompanied by evolution manufacturing technologies, meet ever specific devices. However, no review comprehensively covered recently engaged application areas date. This paper provides an up-to-date on development PEEK-based past 10 years, with particularly focus modifying multi-modal therapeutics. aim provide peers timely update, which may guide inspire research next generation healthcare products. Significant been made processing techniques decades, greatly contributed field. Despite volume published literature related research, there lack emerging therapeutics, involve regeneration, anti-bacteria/anti-inflammation, cancer inhibition, etc. covers state-of-the-art these exciting important guidance based device development.

Surface modification of implants in long bone
Coatings of orthopedic implants are investigated to improve the osteoinductive and osteoconductive properties of the implant surfaces and thus to enhance periimplant bone formation. By applying coatings that mimic the extracellular matrix a favorable environment for osteoblasts, osteoclasts and their progenitor cells is provided to promote early and strong fixation of implants. It is known that...
متن کاملPatient-specific polyetheretherketone implants for repair of craniofacial defects.
BACKGROUND Large cranial defects represent reconstructive challenges. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) implants are preoperatively tailored to the exact size of the defect and exhibit an excellent combination of strength, durability, and environmental resistance. This study presents our experience with patient-specific PEEK implants with computer modeling. METHODS A retrospective chart review was ...
متن کاملMulti-modal Integration for Gesture and Speech
Demonstratives, in particular gestures that “only” accompany speech, are not a big issue in current theories of grammar. If we deal with gestures, fixing their function is one big problem, the other one is how to integrate the representations originating from different channels and, ultimately, how to determine their composite meanings. The growing interest in multi-modal settings, computer sim...
